The first step in this project was to determine the subject of my zine. This was both an exciting and challenging process, as I had many ideas, each leading to vastly different design directions—ranging from aviation to jewelry. Ultimately, I decided to showcase an otherwise unseen aspect of my professional skill set: photography. Specifically, I wanted to highlight the cameras I’ve used throughout my tenure as a hobby photographer. This decision became the foundation of my photography zine, Focus.
Once I had settled on the theme and square dimensions of the zine, I designed a typeface that perfectly fit the format and accentuated the edgy, messy yet structured, source-code-inspired aesthetic of its pages. To ensure consistency, I created a style guide outlining the zine’s design direction, including typefaces, color palettes, and page layouts.
Next, I developed a series of postcard advertisements to introduce viewers to both the zine and its subject. Finally, I began assembling the zine—collecting photos, deciding on themes, outlining specific cameras, and writing each section. Showcasing my photography in an engaging way was an incredibly rewarding experience, one I would love to refine and expand upon.

Style Guide
After designing the typeface, I created a style guide that would set the precedent for the design of the zine.
